GOOD TO KNOW!

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR IV APPOINTMENT
To make your visit as easy as possible, please remember:
  • Drink plenty of water before your appointment (being very dehydrated can make it harder to start an IV)
  • Make sure to eat something before your appointment
  • IV infusion appointments will take about an hour
  • Please wear a shirt that makes it easy to access your forearm area to start the IV (short or loose sleeves that can be pulled up)
  • Complete your medical history and consent forms online before your appointment to save time, or please come 10 minutes early to allow time for this
  • Patients with congestive heart failure, liver or kidney disease are not appropriate candidates for receiving IV therapy. If you have a history of these conditions, please consult with our medical providers before coming in. You may be turned away at your appointment time if your have these conditions.
  • Frequency of treatments depend on the individual patient as well as the condition or symptoms being treated. For more acute conditions, like URI/GI illness, acute muscle pain or spasm, headache or hangover, only 1 or 2 treatments may be required. But in preparation for an athletic event, such as a marathon or competition, or in anticipation of high stress (wedding, travel, exams) then IV therapies may be used weekly or over 3-6 weeks or more. Frequency can be tapered down as symptoms improve. IV therapy can be given biweekly or monthly for more chronic conditions, like chronic fatigue, migraines, allergies, autoimmune conditions, menopause symptoms, to support weight loss, or beauty maintenance.
AFTER YOUR IV TREATMENT
  • Drink extra water to help detoxify your body.
  • Most patients feel very good after IV therapy but there is always some potential for side effects.
  • Potential side effects include headache, general feeling of unwellness, nausea, diarrhea or constipation. If these symptoms occur, it is likely due to your body detoxifying.
  • There is also potential for discomfort, redness, bruising, or swelling at the IV site
  • Use an ice pack at the IV site afterward, if needed
  • Avoid alcohol for a while to allow your liver to recover from the toxin release
  • Consider taking a magnesium salt bath (epsom salts) if you don't feel well
  • Always call us to notify us of any severe reactions
